My main ministry is to worship the Lord, be in His Word and in prayer daily and share His redeeming love with those around me. I am involved with a weekly Ladies International Bible Study, Thursday evening Bible Study, lay leader in the Church, preaching, teaching attending to local visitors and those from USA, living and working on site at College for Christian Ministries (CCM) as driver, accountant, nurse and building overseer.

In February 2000 I introduced Daughters of the King by training 18 ladies to be leaders and teachers of DOK in Malawi. We now have 17 Chapters with over 350 participants and many more in the training period. Through DOK many ladies have come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord and are sharing the gospel with their friends.  A great evangelism tool and another way of helping people to grow spiritually.

After the death of my husband in 1987 I came in contact with Fr. Gene Horn and Church of the Holy Spirit in Albany, Oregon.  When I shared with them the vision I had at 10 years of age, they encouraged me to apply to EWM in 1988.  EWM affirmed my call to the foreign mission field and invited me to work through them.  I received a Diploma in Lay Ministry with emphasis on Mission from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania in the school year 1989-90.  After this I was invited by Bishop Peter Nyanja to visit Malawi for two months and go on his annual confirmation tour.  We visited 56 villages in 58 days.  He then invited me to return and work in his Diocese.  3 February 1993 was the official date of my ten year (so far) stay in Malawi.

The main challenge in Malawi is helping people to mature spiritually.   As Bishop Peter has said many times, "Religion in Malawi is 1 inch deep and 5 miles wide."  People receive Jesus as Savior and Lord but fail to grow spiritually because there is no one close at hand to help them, therefore settle back into the same old cultural ways.  They believe they are "new creatures in Christ Jesus", but the culture here keeps them from moving on into a deeper relationship with the Lord and into a more stable Christian life.

College for Christian Ministries opened on 6th January 2003 with 20 students. CCM is the only College in Malawi that accepts students with lesser education. CCM offers a 1-Year Certificate in Lay Ministries; a 2-Year Certificate in Missions and Evangelism; and a 3-Year Diploma for Ordination.

By Mid-Term the Students were delighted at what they are learning and how they are doing and are personally challenged to do even better. So far, they have led 99 people to meet Jesus: two weeks at Mtandire and Chinsapo Villages and will be going to Kauma Village for two weeks. Next term they will go two by two to follow up and begin weekly fellowship groups for discipling the new converts. Our Dean writes, "Esther, we are in the middle of the beginning trickle of a sovereign move of God!"
