With my education in electrical engineering and
computer systems I look after the Global Teams computer and internet systems,
ensuring our staff in America are empowered with the technology they need to work
effectively and efficiently.
Currently, I am working fulltime as a Camp Administrator for Camp Kanesatake in Pennsylvania. This ministry is very similar to that
of a missionary. We work to make Christ known to non-Christians, and
we work with believers to help them grow in their Christian walks. The
big difference is the camping environment that we live in. I also met
my wife Sarah at Camp Kanesatake, as we were married there in January 2005.
I was introduced to Global Teams when I was traveling through America on my big OE
(overseas experience) in 2001. Most New Zealanders leave New Zealand to travel for a
few years sometime before they turn 30. My travels took me through America and the
Summer Camp program, then onto England, and landed me back in Delano, California where I
met members of the Laotian Mobilization and Pioneer Church Planting team.
I served on two short-term trips to Laos in 2003 and 2004
Matthew 9:37-38 calls for workers to go into the harvest field. One way I have
answered that call is to offer my mix of computer and administration skills in service in
the mission field.
I'm a people person. I love traveling, experiencing new cultures,
and meeting new people. My
biggest challenges during my first trip into Laos was language and power. My Laotian
was very limited when I first arrived but I'm happy to report that it was much improved
when it came time for me to leave. The power challenges were with the
electricity - and our sometimes lack of it.
