We moved several times as I was growing up – across the country and overseas. Part of my childhood was spent in Japan – years I treasure in every way. That shaped a major part of my life and influences it to the present.

Being a member and serving on the local and Southern California boards of Sister Cities International gave me over twenty years of wonderful experiences making friends abroad and here, learning each others’ cultures, hosting and being hosted. The time came when I felt a call to reach out in a new way – mission work - and my venture with Sister Cities would be a corner stone.

I love sharing my faith with people, being active in my church and serving it in a variety of ways for as long as I can remember. At a Cursillo retreat, my friend, Sandy, told me about her experience with Horizons. That got my attention! A call to Kevin, and I knew I was taking the next Horizons offered – summer, 2001 – my first association with Global Teams. I finished the training realizing that I had been led where God wanted me – with a mission organization in whose people I could see Christ alive, and whose philosophy matched my own. I wanted to be part of Global Teams and take His message to people, through their culture, particularly in Asia and specifically in Mongolia. I was excited yet still had a few years to teach before retiring. Retired now, I was appointed July, 2005.

In 2001 a prayer group began meeting in my home, praying for God to open doors in Mongolia. Some prayers have been answered. Funds have been provided to send a missionary priest from South Korea, full time, to Mongolia. Connections have been made with Mongolian people in the US and in Mongolia. God may land me there yet?

Other mission experiences include leading a group to South Korea to teach English – summer of 2005 and participating in a group going to Uganda – this summer, 2006.

My three children and their families are my delight! Bible study, Group Reunion and reading provide accountability, growth and quiet time. Curves (exercise) keeps me from growing old…..too fast. Playing bridge, planting flowers, painting in pastels, and doing things with Red Hat friends capture my time to relax and have fun.
